South Oldham Fire Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of 24/48 Shift Firefighters. The department is adding 3 New Firefighter Positions and desires to establish a list of potential candidates for future openings.

The position offers:
Starting Salary is $ 32,500.00
State Incentive pay of $4,000.00/annually once eligible
CERS Retirement
Healthcare package
Short Term Disability
Paid Sick/Vacation/Personal Time (when eligible)

Applications can be obtained at our Headquarters Station (6310 Old La Grange Road Crestwood, KY 40014) beginning on Thursday, September 1, 2016 during the hours of 08:00 until 18:00. Completed applications and all required documents must be returned no later than 16:00 on Friday, September 16, 2016.

Applicants must be at least a 150 hour Kentucky State Certified Firefighter. Per KRS 95A.230, you will have one year from time of hire to complete the four hundred (400) hour certification for State Incentive. If the successful applicant is not a Kentucky State Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), he/she will be required to enroll in a class within the first year of employment. Failure to do each will be cause for termination of employment.

The selection process will consist of three components: (1) A review of the applicant’s work history, resume and background check, (2) Written Test from IFSTA Essentials 6th Edition, and (3) an oral interview. *Applicants must possess a valid Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) card at the time of employment.
*Current Full Time Career Firefighters in Kentucky are exempt.
