Structure Fire during Local Storms

By Major Keith Smith
October 20, 2016

Local thunder storms passing through the Oldham County area on Thursday morning may have contributed to a structure fire that was dispatched for both LaGrange Fire & Rescue Department and Ballardsville Fire & Rescue Department.

Upon arrival on scene first due units reported heavy smoke and fire that had vented through the roof area of a connected town home in the residential neighborhood. Further size up determined that all occupants were out of the structure as a 1.75 inch attack line was advanced into the home. Interior crews located the main body of fire on a second floor of the structure and began suppression and overhaul operations.

Efficient work by all units on scene held damages to a minimum. Thanks again to all those involved for helping make for a smooth and effective operation.

We want to congratulate both Fire Departments on the excellent job they did on saving the other 3 homes in this building. We live in this building on the other side. All homes are separated by firewalls and while our attic was filled with smoke, with smoke fumes all through our home.....we are very grateful for the Fire Depts. quick response and their expert work to contain the fire.

Thank You !!!!
