CITIZENS FIRE ACADEMY

The Citizen's Fire Academy is a free, dynamic ten-week program designed to provide interested participants with an inside view of the orgnaization and operations of the LaGrange Fire & Rescue Department. The Citizens Fire Academy also showcases the volunteer opportunities within the LaGrange Fire Rescue Department, including administrative positions and volunteer firefighting.
The Citizen's Fire Academy provides a variety of interesting and useful information in a friendly, informal setting. The instructors are both career and volunteer firefighters and members of the LaGrange Fire & Rescue Department. The instructors interact with students in class and in the field for a great learning experience!
There are no tests…just fun, along with an opportunity to learn about firefighting, and the department that protects you and your property. |

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
To provide participants a basic understanding of the tactics and strategies of firefighting and rescue operations.
To provide a greater understanding of the services the LaGrange Fire & Rescue Department is able to provide to the community.
To encourage academy participants to return to their families and neighborhoods and share their experiences. This will provide more safety conscious and informed citizens.
To provide an enjoyable, interactive atmosphere in which fire department members and citizens can share information and concerns.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS
Participants must be a minimum of eighteen years of age.
Participants must live or work in the LaGrange Fire Protection District.
Participants must be able to commit to attend all sessions.
Participants must have a good legal standing. |
